A romantic elopement in perfect Tuscan style

Nothing says “I promise I will love you forever” more than a romantic elopement – especially if it’s set in a unique destination like Val d’Orcia in Tuscany. Sometimes the simplest things are also the most meaningful ones, and Robin and Yves’s wedding is proof of it. Get inspired!

Robin and Yves’s civil wedding in Italy

This smiling and positive couple from Canada decided to get married in Italy with a civil wedding at the Town Hall of Pienza, a picturesque village tucked in the Tuscan hills. They didn’t wish for a big ceremony: in fact, it was just the two of them and two Italian friends as witnesses. A truly intimate and romantic elopement, without a doubt! 

After the ritual, we took some portraits of the newlyweds around the charming streets of Pienza. Yves, an airline pilot, had the desire to drive something special… so they rented a convertible Fiat 500: ideal for a wedding, with its vintage touch and Tiffany color! It was fun and sweet to photograph them in the main square of the town, with residents and tourists cheering them as they drove by.  

A romantic elopement for two

After a pit stop for some food, we got to the second part of the romantic elopement – and of its photo shooting – that took place on the rolling hills of Val d’Orcia, at the little Chapel of the Madonna di Vitaleta. This is an iconic tiny church and UNESCO World Heritage Site in the province of Siena, surrounded by fields and nature: a stunning background for an emotional moment.

Here, in fact, the bride and groom exchanged their vows again, then opened a bottle of wine, sat on the grass and read the letters and messages of congratulations that their friends and families wrote for the occasion. The golden hour light and the sun setting behind the hills were the icing on this romantic elopement cake: Robin and Yves will surely remember this day forever.
